Exclamation Two part Q. Which 7970? Bottleneck?

Here goes,

I've been looking for the past few days at the HD7970's, since it's more widely available than a couple of months ago.

Now I've been hesitating as to which manufacturer to pick, I've always been a fan of the XFX brand but I'm aware other options exist. Obviously I'm not looking at ref cards because they're pretty much all the same. As far as XFX goes I've been trying to see what difference lies between:

Newegg.com - XFX FX-797A-TNBC Radeon HD 7970 Black Edition 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

and

Newegg.com - XFX Double D FX-797A-TDBC Radeon HD 7970 Black Edition 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

I know the difference is the fans... although I've yet to see if it actually makes a difference down the line.

For the bottleneck, I am currently running a Phenom II x4 965 BE. Think it'll be an issue? I'm thinking it should be fine but... hey! What do I know?

Guess I'll be going with the Double dissipation then! Worse comes to worse I can always use it as a paper weight.

I havethe first in crossfire

If you dont want to change heatsink for a waterblock
I think the best is the second because the first make a lot of noise and heat

Indeed, I don't think I'll be delving in water cooling, I have too little experience in that to tempt it, especially with an expensive card like this.

So best thing would be to go with Dual dissipation you think?

Definitely. It's always nice to have a better cooler pre-installed on a card. You can OC more, it'll run cooler and quieter. Win win if you ask me.
