Default GTX 570

Hello, fair people! First post here. Planning on assembling a computer over the next few months. It's been ... almost 10 years since I last dove in.

Anyhow! I found someone who's selling an EVGA GTX 570 for $200. Does that sound like a fair price? With all the talk of new CPUs and GPUs releasing relatively soon, I'm not sure if it makes sense to go after deals like this one. I'm not really in a rush to put the PC together, so I can wait for the new stuff if it makes sense.

Amazing price, its as fast/faster as a 7870 which would be $150 more then what you're paying plus tax. Go for it, sure you can get a newer card however they are much pricier and wont offer any better performance unless your looking at paying 400+

There is always something new to wait for (its anyone's guess if its worth it or not). If you can wait, then why not. IMO that's a good price for a 570 though, so if you want to game now then I say go for it (make sure your power supply is up to the task before you install it (they seem to be going for somewhere >$250 in the buy sell section on this forum).

$200 is a great price if they didn't increase the voltage when/if overclocking. From what I've read, the 570 reference boards have very weak voltage regulation and the 4 phase design can barely cope with increased voltage. Source.

The 570 is still a great card though, at 1080p it can handle BF3 just fine with lots of goodies turned on. Hell, for $200 I'd dump another into my system if my PSU could handle it.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Each new posts gives me another idea of how I should be approaching this.

Right now I'm thinkin' this:

CPU -- Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz
Motherboard -- ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3
RAM -- CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB
Graphics -- EVGA GTX 570
Storage -- 7200RPM 500GB
PSU -- Corsair 750W TX750
Case -- Coolermaster Haf 912
Optical Drive -- ASUS DRW-24B1ST
Heatsink -- Cooler Master Hyper 212
Sound Card -- ASUS Xonar DG

So, I'd go with the 570 for now and possibly pick up another 570 down the line when I find another good deal. But I dunno. Still thinkin'.

FYI, I played Crysis 2 at Ultra settings for 3 hours straight without a single problem on a single ASUS ENGTX 570. After that, I saw that SLI was disabled and facepalmed. You won't have any problem with this card and @ 200$, take one now and if you need more power just SLI another one later one when the card will gets even cheaper.

Very similar to what I have but at 1/3 of what I paid back in May and ready for OC. Go for it man!

What is the memory?

I pinged the guy who's selling it. He said it's 8GB of Corsair vengeance DDR3, which seems like what you might expect.
