Tri-Fire Setup Questions

I have recently unlocked my sapphire 6950 toxic to 1536 shaders (6970 level), and overclocked to 960 MHz core + 1450 MHz memory (5800 MHz effective) @ stock voltage.

The amount of performance I am getting really impressed me and I was wondering if a Tri-Fire configuration with 3 6950s will work out.

I cannot get more toxic editions (I have looked pretty hard), and I was wondering if there are going to be compatibility issues when using different cards.

Specifically, will I be able to use all the shaders on unlocked cards if I cannot get the other two 6950 to unlock?

Can I mix and match brands of 6950? Are there any reccommendations? Is my corsair ax850 able to run trifire? Is my x2 250 able to run trifire?

I plan on mining bitcoin and/or folding and playing bf3. My system specs are in my signature.

honestly, with a x2 250 you'll be hitting a major bottleneck. Buy a second 6950 and use the money that you were going to use for the third to buy a 1090T or something, you wont be disappointed. AFAIK You'll be able to use the full shaders on the first unlocked 6950, and xfire will work fine.

The x2 will run GUIMINER fine lul! But I think they are all out of am3 processors in Edmonton ( i have looked hard). I am reluctant to buy even the cheapest bulldozer.

It is very strange to me that I can game with such high settings on such a crappy processor.

1) try to find a PII X4 975. Preferably used.

2) You CAN Xfire cards from different board manufacturers. You'll have to downclock your fastest 6950s to match your slowest 6950 though.

I was thinking (oh no!)

Couldn't I run quadfire on my crosshair V if i paired up 2 6950 and a 6990? Would the 6950 bottleneck the 6990?

Your problem still is your X2 is going to be the bottleneck running 3+ cards in crossfire.

Yeah it is totally bottlenecking my system and will be replaced with probably a hexa core bulldozer as i cannot seem to find am3 processors in edmonton.
