My System Specs

Default OC (2) 6950 w/ 6970 bios

Well, i finally got my system all set up. ATM, im able to OC my 6950's up to 950 Mhz Core and 1450 Memory clock w/ 1.16 mV using Afterburner 2.1.0.

It pass Kombustor for 30+ mins and BF3 for 2+ hrs w/o any artifacts.

Im willing to OC them past 1GHz. Am i able to do it pass 1+ Ghz? Or is this the extent of my 6950's?

Every card is going to be different, but to hit a GHz you'd likely have to up the voltage, so as long as you have good cooling, you could give it a shot.

I have overclocked a few, most did 950, but after 975 or so your going to need a better cooler to keep stable.(friends 6970's would go to 990 core, but after an hour or so of being under load would lock up, so 950 was all the stock cooling would allow.

I guess i failed to mention, they're both WC.

What do you guys use to OC past 975? Im only limited by AB up to 950.

AB allows it, you just have to enable unofficial overclocking mode, or run msiafterburner.exe /xcl to which it will make a registry change to lift the CCC limits.
