Best GPU for 1360x768
Alright so I am looking for a graphics card for the system below, but want to spend as little as possible.
Intel Core i3 2100(or similar)
EVGA Z68 SLi Micro
Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb
OCZ Fatality 550w
Seagate Baracuda 1tb
As stated in the title the system will be using an 18.5" Samsung Syncmaster 933 with a resolution of 1360x768.
Can you guys recommend me a good card that can rock games like Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. I would like to spend as little as possible. :)
I would personally upgrade that monitor before anything else. Even tho the res is 1360x768 the screen height just makes everything feel SO squished. Even a 1280x1024 19" LCD looks better than a 18.5" monitor.
Bare minimum of a monitor to buy should be 22".
But since you asked about video cards go for a 550.
Yeah I got the monitor for super cheap and the computer is a 2nd setup for my gf to play her hello kitty carebear style games, and so my friend doesn't have to bring his comp for sc2, and likely d3.
Taking into account what you said, if I want the possibility of upping that to say something like a 1600x900 or even a small 1080what would be recommended? I really want to keep this cheap and budget.
You can still drive 1080p on a OC'd 550TI, its what my cousin runs and he is almost on Ultra for WoW, Ultra on D3, and very good for SC2.
So, pick up one of those and you should be fine.
I'd say either the GTX 550 Ti or the new HD 7750.
I would say an hd 7750 (550Ti is also good, but I would go the lower power consumption route with the 7750).
Thanks for the input guys. I might try to snag that 7770 off here.
550Ti/560 Non ti, 7750, 6850. For the price, the 6850/7750 are very hard to argue with, the 6850/7750 are also directly better to equivalent then the 550Ti even when overclocked(7750 is less expensive but also a hair slower then the 550Ti on average) they also draw the same to less power(quite a bit less in the 7750s case) The 6870/7770 or 560 non ti are also valid options if you go with a monitor using 1680x1050 resolution or higher being x1080 reso. 560Ti/6950/7950 if you spend the extra :P
Anyways, depending on where you live and such, the 7750 is around $110, the 550Ti around $120, 6850 around $130 this is for nice factory overclocked models, drop the price by just a few $ for non fancy models.
6850 is the fastest out of these of course, and only a few $ more but is worth it by quite a margin as well, the 6870 being only $20 more is also worth it, depending on the games and such.
The 7770 is directly inline with 6870 performance(- a bit) and 560 non ti(- a bit) games that can use its advantages(bf3 or batman) show the 7770 a bit better. For the current price its cost of $159 MSRP(asking around $175) on the 7770 vs say the average of $150(some for less then $145) for the 6870, its a tough choice. The 560Ti is faster then both by a fair margin.
Check out SkyMTL's sale. He's got the review units from the 7770/7750 review up for sale. it seems like the MSI 7770 OC is the only one left, but for $110, I don't see how you can go wrong with that card! You'll have to hurry though.
