Default upgrade to 2nd 6850 gpu or wait for 7000 series?

i am currently running a single amd 6850 gigabyte brand, clock speed at 860mhz and mem clock at 1050mhz. i run 3 22inch monitors off the single card right now but just looking for a little more juice. another identical card appeared on sale on newegg for $140. so i was wondering if it would be more adequate to upgrade to a crossfire configuration of these 2 cards or wait for the mid range 7000 series gpus to come out. the only other alternative i have is buying an msi twin frozr 6970. currently have the asus maximus gene-z micro atx intel 1155 motherboard. any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

You should go 7000 series, the reason being is you will be held back by your 1gb GDDR5 at that resolution and you will barely notice a difference because of micro stuttering.

I agree with the guys above, you should get something with a bit higher v-ram since you are running eyefinity config and since the 7000 series will have more v-ram wait for those cards to come out.

Or upgrade to a 6970 and sell the 6850 if you can get it for a good price

is what i was thinking as well, because not only will the new card have more v ram, but also more processing units and higher core clock. as long as the mid to high range 7000 cards dont break the bank too much. looking at under $400 because it was what i was going to end up paying for the 6970.
i also noticed occasionally playing dirt 3 the card will have some hiccups. like 5 fps for about 5 seconds. then game goes back to about 45fps. any ideas? all drivers are up to date. running fine at 970mhz core clock and 1100 mem clock. no over voltage.

Wait for something 7k series...and make sure it has 2gb vram because of your resolution.
