Just noticed that xfx double D black vs regular double D.. really no difference just cheaper and you don't get the case badge. ( obviously core clock is lower but thiis is xfx .. same cooler, just bump it up :) )

If you o/c definately buy the regular double D. Save the $35.

Double D VS Double D Black
925mhz vs 1000mhz core
5.5ghz vs 5.7ghz memory
no case badge vs case badge.
both have lifetime warranty.

I understand that XFX has scaled back their illustrious warranties: There is no longer a double lifetime warranty, and only the black edition get lifetime if registered within 30 days. Otherwise only two years

How long does this limited warranty last?
The limited hardware warranty for Graphics Cards lasts for a time period of two years.
Which products are eligible for a limited lifetime hardware warranty?
The following Graphics Cards are eligible for an extension of the standard two-year limited hardware warranty:
1. XFX Radeon HD 7000 Series Dual Fan (Double Dissipation Edition) Graphics Cards with Ghost Technology; a floating cover design that maximizes airflow by creating exceptional venting throughout the card.
2. XFX Radeon HD 7000 Series Graphics Cards with 10-digit model numbers ending in R (example: FX-797A-TDFR)

That's a shame.. bye bye XFX because I mostly buy my GPU used and I prefer to be able to RMA myself like with ASUS/Giga/MSI

Guess it's a good thing I bought the black edition then.
I like it for the fact it's usually a double lifetime.

Default $548.96 - Gigabyte 7970 in stock with free shipping at BestDirect

Picked up the XFX BEDD yesterday and I am happy :)
Lifetime warranty is not as good as double but still better than most.

btw, As of Wed 11th ~ 10:am;
Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 925MHZ in stock with free shipping at BestDirect for only $548.96
NewEgg seems to be sold out at this time and NCIX has in stock only the XFX core for $574.99 and the Sapphire for $599.99. Plenty of retailers starting to gouge with prices ~ $620 for reference versions.

I really want to see the 7950 o/c results. More and more i think about it, i tend to believe that they will be unlockable. It financially makes sense to produce 1 board only at this time of release, underclock it via bios and call it a 7950 and then delay the launch for 1month so ppl can eat up the 7970 at full retail. my 2 cents.

just read 7950 releases Jan 31st.
Report: AMD Radeon HD 7950 releases on January 31st by VR-Zone.com

Main difference from 7950 to 7970.
1792 Shaders vs 2048 Shaders
28 ROPs vs 32 ROPs
386bit vs 386bit

Oh wow...good find on that one mate. I wasn't aware that XFX was doing that but I guess they have to do what they have to do in order to remain viable as a buisness.
WIth upgraded warranties I see they are taking a page out of EVGA's book.

Currently using a GPU only block but going to get a FC block for this series since it overclocks so damn well. My oc was limited to heat from VRMs :(

I have some Koolance quick disconnects that I could probably put to good use...

Also ordered an EK FC block today, hopefully I'm in the first batch that ships from Europe this Friday.
