I meant to oc it like you would a proper 6970.
There were some limitations on them from what I recall of the different guides etc. higher quality chps or something.. can't remember the specifics..
I am sure if you look around for articles on unlocking and ocing the 6950 you'll find what you need

Well that's a given since the 6970 already starts off with a high GPU voltage, so it will likely OC higher than an unlocked 6950.
Even though that is the case, doesn't mean you won't get a solid OC out of a 6950. Mine did 975MHz with an increase in voltage, but I didn't feel it was worthwhile to keep the card at that speed since any game I ran played just fine at 900MHz with no voltage increase.

The Diamond Radeon HD 6950 2gb I just bought in december unlocked without an issue :) It's got a super crappy tunnel type cooler on it that sounds like a jet engine but since i've got a full waterblock in the mail that doesn't matter anyways

If you plan to watercool and unlock check out the diamond
