EVGA GTX 550 Ti - Stange things happening after 5 days back from RMA

This is the first time I've ever seen a graphics card of any kind do this to me. I had both my processor and my graphics card overclocked. Processor from 3.2GHz - 3.7GHz, 1.4v-1.45v. I had the card overclocked from 951/1903, 2178MHz on the RAM to 1030/2060, and 2225MHz on the RAM.

I've had the card and processor overclocked to these settings since I've gotten the card back. This happened after playing 15 minutes of Grand Theft Auto IV.

Is this just simple artifacts from a bad overclock? or does this mean the card has something more wrong with it? I've reset all the card's overclocks for now, until I find out if this is actually harmful or not...

Looks like an unstable video card RAM overclock to me.

Yeah it's the overclock, try running just the memory clocks at stock and it should be fine. Or just back them down until it stops happening. It isn't harmful as long as you aren't really dumping on your card.

I had my clock overclocked for a month or so and I went home for christmas but my GF is telling me artifacts are popping up now so I need to pull it back some.

Run Furmark on the card with everything @ stock settings... I've seem similar artifacting on a card whose fan had crapped out

True, could be heat issues, try this and if it is fine then just over clock everything but the memory.

Here are the temps after an hour and 17 minutes.

I guess it was just a bad overclock. I'll work on a more stable overclock over the next few days and stop at where I find safe.

no problem with your card. I had same experience when I overclocked my old nvidia card.
use default settings .everything will be OK .

Furmark is shit. Try a few loops of heaven benchmark. If it's artifacting then it's not stable. Downclock the memory and see if that helps.

Going to try a few runs of heaven benchmark sometime tomorrow, going out of town today.

Got this just a few seconds ago.. Sound froze, screen went black, then everything came back. This is just while surfing the internet.

Set your GPU clocks to stock and see if you still get the issue. Test with Kombustor or Occt 3.01. If you still have the problems at stock, shutdown the computer, wait approx. 1 minute before booting back up. If the issue is gone after shutting down... welcome to the world of Fermi...
