Default best card in 250-300 range

Well time to upgrade just like everybody else but with School (RMC) and such i just don't have time to spend reading all these forums to study which card is the best at my price range.

Specs for my present card (ATI 5750)

EVGA P55 FTW with I5 750
4gb Gskill ram
600PSU OCZ
h50 corsair
ATCS 840 case

tks much

Nick

Some go green some red.. personal preference and experiences.. I've had good and bad with both.

You'll get very similar results with either a 560Ti or a 6950.

PS. if not an emergency upgrade then there are new chips being released by ATI currently.. in say a month / 2 or thereabouts there should be either better options in your price range or savings to be made on current stuff as they release the mid range cards from the new line-up (totally new architecture)

Yes people say that "there is always something new coming out" and "prices are always dropping" but I find buying a card as it's about to be (but hasn't yet been) replaced is a bad option as you end up paying rates that will get you 20% better in a few short months (my bet is 2 months for a much fuller line-up)

And apart from Nvidia release in the summer, your probably not going to see new stuff for about a year or so after these.
(custom designs etc aside)
