6950 2GB crossfire in BF3, skyrim, the witcher 2...

almost time to decide on 79xx or CF my 8month old 6950. I play at 1080p, I like to completely max a game and keep at least 50fps

theres lots of benches for older games I still have to play like the crysis series, metro2033, GTA4, probably JC2, can't wait for FC3 and metro 1st light

can't seem to find many benches of CF in skyrim, BF3, new shogun, the witcher 2. I sure CF would do fine in skyrim (if I don't get issues like many others) since a lot of the time I can do +45fps. BF3 I just read one test and CF had avg 82fps maxed except 4xAA.

Any thoughts, and how much hassle are the CF issues with 6950. I've never CFed before, seems it can cause a lot of problems for some.

I would wait for 7xxx unless you get a good deal on a 6950.

Skyrim for me still has crappy CF scaling on 2x 6970.

If you do go CF grab: RadeonPro: Radeon Games Profiles Automation Tool
You will be able to force CF for SOME games that are not supported.

Witcher 2 seemed to play alrigh on 6970s in crossfire however they have limited support for AMD as it seems to be optimized for nVidia cards.

Nope. My review is primed and ready to go.

Still putting some finishing touches on it (7,000+ words is A LOT to edit) but after a mere 5 days of testing, retesting and writing, it should be up to our usual standards and up later tonight.

you're doing a official review, for who?

the CF problems scare me, I hope a single 7970 is powerful enough in the above games

but I can't wait to see 6950 CF vs 7970

edit:Hey SKYMTL, a big concern for me is NOISE

do you have anything in there on noise, blowers worry me, never owed 1, my non-ref single fan sapphire is cool and quiet with max 71C with 45% fan in games like skyrim, BF3.

My reviews are of course posted here @ Hardware Canucks. Check my title next to my avatar... ;)

I cannot comment on anything. You'll see tonight.
