Bad Performance w/ 6970 ?

Hi , I recently built my computer and I got some games and Ive noticed my 6970 isn't performing too well , For example When I play Fallout 3 I get 59-60 frames constant which is good But other people with a similar rig will get better performance like a gtx 570 and an i7 870 and they will get 100 frames , Even if I turn my settings down it dont boost my fps , and in crysis I get 30 frames maxed out - Some of my specs are i7 2600k @ 3.4ghz , 8gb ddr3 ram , Asrock p67 extreme 4 gen 3 .. If I remember correctly FO3 is Frames locked at 60 FPS....I was able to go into nv Control Panel and Force Vertical Synch off, there must be something similar in your CCC...

yeah that just sounds like a vsync lock. if you disable it your framerate will be unbound from your monitor refresh rate.

Going to agree with others, sounds like you have vsync on (or the game is locked to it) causing you to essentially stay at the same frames.

Why would you want more then 60 frames?
And ya its Vsync I use the Same card and am locked at 60 frames turn it off and it shoots way up, but whats the point? just makes your computer hotter and louder and the game looks the exact same.

Fun fact, try telling a counterstrike player that his game at 60FPS and his game at 300FPS is the exact same.

Oh , I disabled V sync In the CCC and the fallout.ini and my frames went to like 90-110, and It looked to fast lol , So Yeah It was V sync , Thanks everyone
