Default Best Video Card Configuration Choice

Hi Linus,

Big fan of your TechTips guide I would like some advice on which video card configuration would make more "cents" to buy lol. Dual Asus HD 6870's or single Asus HD 6970.

Best Regards,
Lil Saint.

I almost always recommend to go with a single card instead of two less powerful ones. Fewer driver issues and more consistent overall performance.

Dual 6870s will give you better FPS in theory. You have to deal with all the troubles of dual cards though. Such as some games not supporting crossfire properly, drivers, heat, power, and sometimes microstutter. Resale is usually higher on the single card too.

I suggest single 6970.

Remember for increase scaling and multi screen dual cards is usually needed. But if its just a single monitor your on about, always try and get the best single card possible for your needs/budget.
