Actually for 1920x1200 the 1.5 GB would fit like a glove even with some headroom, but that MSI of yours is a great card as well, enjoy!

6970 > 570 for higher resolutions and no MSAA
570 > 6970 for lower resolutions and MSAA

In terms of FXAA it really depends on the application, I wouldn't bother with morphological antialiasing that AMD offers since its a pretty big performance hit and inferior to FXAA (although it has universal compatibility and at ur res might not affect playability).

In your case, considering your resolution, I'd say the 570 is a better solution, 580 is overkill especially considering the price and the 7 series imminence.
Alternatively, like someone before me suggested a 6950, unlocked and oc'd will provide the biggest bang for buck and equal performance to a 6970.
