Retiring the old girl... upgrading from GTX 280

Hey guys,

Was a little tired last night and posted in the new builds section when I should have just posted here. Anyway, to save on typing I'll link my post in the new build section: linky.

So basically I'm looking to upgrade my GTX 280 to something that can max out games on 1680x1050. It would be also nice if it could run 2 monitors at max settings since I multibox. Some future proofing would be nice too seeing how well my GTX 280 has held up... minus the crazy temps

I'm currently considering a GTX 570 since it's around the same price right now that my GTX 280 was 2 years ago. I'd consider an SLI setup as long as I didn't have to swap my Antec TruePower 750 PSU.

I'm also a little confused about the GTX 400 and 500 series though. Is the 500 series just a ramped up 400 series or is the architecture really improved?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

i would say a 6970 its alittle more powerful than a 570 at the same price, plus you get more vram but if you have to have a nvidia then go for a 570 both are good

I purchased a GTX 570 and GTX 460 last January and I was looking for another.

Get a GTX460 or a 6870. You can't go wrong with either at 1680x1050.

Prices on video cards were this way before the flood ... I wonder if black Friday will have decent pricing.

I would almost say a GTX 560 Ti would be the perfect card for that resolution.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's referring to the act of playing multiple accounts of a game (WoW? or similar), simultaneously. You're essentially running two copies of WoW side by side. It's sanctioned by Blizz because hell, you're paying for all the accounts.

I've seen people 5box before. 1 Hunter and 4 priests, all being controlled by the same guy. He was unkillable.
