Default 570 gtx or 580?

I'm right now trying to decide whether to get a brand new Zotac 570 gtx for $300,
or a second hand EVGA 580 GTX DS for $400. (With warranty)
I'm looking for value, but at the same time life span of the product.(Lifespan as its able to keep up with current gaming.)
I've crosses ATI off my list, with previous bad experiences.
Looking to play Skyrim, and BF3, at 1920x1080

Please let me know whats a better option for now, or just to wait for the 6xx series.

Thanks for your time.

For BF3, you'll want the GTX580 if you want to play at ultra settings. Skyrim is not as demanding, it's a DX9 title.

Do you think the 580 still has enough life it it to warrant a purchase right now? This is the highest end card I have ever considered buying, that's why I'm sort of worried.

If you can fine a 580 Used go for it, I dont see many forsale. BF3 at ultra is very pretty.

Neither. The next gen of cards will be released December, if not then January. Hold off until then.

next gen cards are delayed to q1 2012, it all boils down to whether or not you want to spend that extra 100 for the measly performance gain. you can overclock the gtx570 to beat a stock gtx580, but a gtx580 oc'ed is in a different league

No one really knows when the new Gen cards will be out, if you can buy a card now go for the GTX 580. You can always sell it down the road, and really with a GTX 580 you should be fine for what ever games come out.

Don't think so. The earliest would be late Q1, the higher end cards probably in Q2.

If you can find a good deal on a 580 used with warranty, then why not go for it if you have the funds (the problem is how long you may have to wait to get one). If not a 570 is a great card that will treat you well (and you could get in now...or next week with black friday sales).

I run BF3 with a 560 ti @ 1080p,high settings,yields smooth frames.Ultra just a bit to much.Oc'd 570 should get you to full ultra.To bad BF3 is slow a frustrating compared to COD
