This would be amazing!

I believe the fans you are talking about were branded by both Gelid and Enermax.
Would be pretty cool if they did those,

I myself would save the coin and go with a good 6950 that has a very high chance of "unlocking" to become a 6970 shader wise for no extra cost. Just make sure it is a 2gb Vram model as the 1gb models will not unlock.

XFX 6950 2gb XXX(830 core) dual fan, Sapphire Toxic, MSI Twin Frozr III Power edition, all of these especially the Sapphire or MSI Twin III Power have a very high rate of unlocking, of if they do not have increased overlclocking headroom in TRIX and Afterburner respectively.

MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition Unlocking - Unlocking Guide this is an article describing the MSI one as mentioned.

Totaly up to you I suppose, being as we are close to December and the 7k series will launch but in low volume apprently in December, in full volume Jan-March time frame, I would maybe wait to see what reviews are like and such, and do hold off until the 7900 series are availble, I jumped the gun and got 6870, damn good card, but for not much more at launch price, the 6950 was just that much better a purchase. I would save the coin, get a 6950 as mentioned above, and overclock it, quite easy/safe to do(just mind your temperatures and dont play with voltages) and you will be fine, plenty of folks I know play BF3 with 6950 2gb models, and they get very reasonable frame rates at 1080p high/ultra settings AA defered turned off AA low, nets on average 68fps+ in most of my freinds cases, with Phenom II x4 or Core i7 series CPU

Link? Not all rumours are true...

but one can hope, right?

I really hope the high end 7900 cards are priced no more than $400.

Ah... Release chasing will drive you nuts. It never ends in this business.

Buy the card NAO and wrap an empty box under the tree. Think of the 2-3 months of gaming you will miss out on if you don't!

My 5970 is considered "old", but can handle every game I throw at it.
