Default ATI 6750M VS ATI 6770M (In Macbook Pros)

Hi HWC,
in the mac section I posted the regretful jump of having to get a Macbook Pro for school.

I've been reading all day about the Macbook Pro and I'm wondering is it true that the 6750M is an underclocked 6770M ?
Both come equipped with 1GB GDDR5 obviously, and the fact that Macbooks run hot as they are, if I oc'd the 6750M to 6770M spec I'm just wondering what would happen since if it's true about the clocks, then the Macbook that comes with the 6770M should run hotter stock when compared to the 6750M ?

Thanks

You should be able to overclock without any issues, assuming that the 6750 isn't a chip that is binned because it can't make those higher clock and memory speeds.

Also you're on your own finding some OC software that runs on Mac.

Don't know if they're identical cards, but you can easily overclock the 6750M to 6770M speeds without issue.

Comparison of AMD graphics processing units - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Looking at this, there's a good chance the 6750M could be an underclocked 6770M, the clocks are within a ~200mhz difference.
Thanks

They very well could be of course. Apple has underclocked GPU's in the past, and it wouldn't surprise me, but since I haven't found any thing that confirms it, I'll just leave it as "I guess they might have this time" lol.

we can only assume lol. I just don't want to waste ~$200 for an extra 10% gain in GPU performance if I can just oc it myself for free =P

Edit: and the .2GHZ gain in CPU

There is overclocking software that will do desktop cards from about 7-11 years ago... anything newer and you need to edit the ROM and flash. idk about editing a macbook's GFX ROM though. It is plausible that someone might have released software to do it recently but I have not seen it.
