Default Adding an old GPU for dedicated physx?

Hey guys!

So i have that old 8800GTX and was wondering if it would add a little extra if i was to hook it into my new rig and use it as a dedicated physx card. Well, first, is it still possible to do that? I remember seeing that this could be done a few years ago but it is still possible and would it be a good thing?

Would i see any difference in game such as BF3, MW3, Crysis 2 etc...?

New rig specs :

Asus p8z68-v rpo
2500k @ 4.5Ghz for now
Asus 580GTX DirectCUII
Ultra X3 1000W PSU
Xonar DX 7.1
etc..

Thanks!

wouldn't be worth it really in my opinion. I said with a 200 series nvidia card would be what you want. The 8800 is just too old.

Unless you're playing games that have physx, which aren't a lot nor really most the games you listed, you won't see a performance difference/increase at all with that older gpu.

Yeah, I compared a GTX470/8500GT with just a GTX 470 in Mafia II and the 8500GT was just too slow. I was better off with just the 470 by itself.

Not worth it in this case.
Too much Power consumption, too much heat for what it does. And too old to give any type of boost.

What about something like this? Or does PCI not have enough bandwidth? A PCI-e card isn't an option for me because I'm using both PCI-e slots on my board for crossfire.

for a 580, you'll probably want a 550ti or faster for physx
