Default Possible Video card issue

Hi guys. I have been experiencing this for a long while now and im wondering if theres a fix to this. Some applications i open, mostly games, result in my screen going black and my resolution lowering to the lowest possible. I can still play them but at 800 x 600 which is absolute shit. I cant change it back once this happens as it doesnt show higher resolutions in the display option. My native resolution is 1920 x 1080 with a dual GTX 285 config. Any help would be appreciated. This happens with both new and old games.

Try reinstalling your videocard drivers with the latest available... I'd also stress test the cards with Furmark to make sure they aren't about to crap out on ya...

Also try re-seating them, try stressing each separately, and funny enough, it can be a faulty SLI bridge... happened to me once :)

yes you would

i would also try with just 1 card in the system at a time
and see if the same thing happens with just 1 card in there

if one of them does what you described, and the other is fine, its probably a bad card

if they both work fine alone
then the bridge is bad, or driver or OS software/driver conflict

Sounds like a driver issue to me.. Try downloading the newest beta nvidia drivers and using those if you haven't already.
