Unhappy Asus Video Card Price Jump

Hey guys,

So just wondering if anyone can figure this one out for me. I just checked the prices on Asus's 560Ti DCII & ENGTX 570 DCII. I have them linked and check them once a day to look for price drops.
Anyway I loaded it up this morning and noticed a $25 price increase! some sites even had a price push of up to $40.

Just something to chew on...
For the past two months the Asus ENGTX 570 DCII was at $354 at CanadaComputers with a $30 Rebate. Canada Computers | Video Cards | Asus ENGTX570 DCII/2DIS/1280MD5 nVidia GeForce GTX 570 Chipset (742Mhz) 1280MB (3800Mhz) GDDR5 Dual Dual-Link DVI-I/ HDMI/Display Port PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card
It now sits at $375
if you go to NCIX they have it listed for $396! NCIX.com - Buy ASUS GeForce 570 GTX DirectCU II Fermi 742MHZ 1280MB 3.8 GHz GDDR5 2XDVI HDMI PCI-E Video Card - ASUS - ENGTX570 DCII/2DIS/1280MD5 - in Canada , mind you it comes with game BUT no rebate.

The same goes for the Asus 560Ti DCII...price increased. $252 to $275 - CanadaComputers

Why would the prices be going up? I'm not sure if it is across the board for all their cards or cards in general but I thought that was rather strange since the new line of cards is soon to come out. Is it a push with BF3 coming out soon and other demanding games?

Just my tid bit for the morning, thought I'd share.

EDIT: I just checked TigerDirect.ca, they still have the card for $349.97 with no rebate OR $419 With Arkham City FREE... still not worth the price point for me. These cards were selling for $324 last week after $30 MIR.

This is pretty much normal right before a big game release. With BF3 right around the corner, people are buying up GPUs, inventory levels are low and price will go up.

If thats the case I am really happy I bought everything when I did. I would be kicking myself right now otherwise.

Was going to sell my Gigabyte GTX 470 OC and buy a GTX 560Ti but maybe I will wait till prices go back down again.

Really?? That's such a minor upgrade, if any at all... go for at least a 570 or a 6970...

It won't be an upgrade but simply a side grade. You will get about the same performance but less noise/heat. I would keep the 470 and overclock it. At 830+ it out-performs a 560Ti @ 1ghz. Replace the Tim and add a custom fan profile. The prices for the 470's dropped a lot and you will be paying $70+ for a side grade.

Cheers.

That's exactly why I was surprised. Side grading simply doesn't worth it in this case.

Definitely not worth the side grade, you should hold out until the next gen stuff comes out and either make the jump then, or buy a 5xx or 69xx series reduced down card.
