Default Should I get this card?

Looking to upgrade from my GTX 260 for Battlefield 3, and other DX11 games.
I'd be running at 1680x1050, but don't want to spend a ton on an upgrade.

NCIX.com - Buy MSI GeForce GTX 460 Fermi Hawk OC 780MHZ 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI Mini-HDMI DX11 PCI-E Video Card - MSI/MicroStar - N460GTX HAWK - in Canada

This MSI 460GTX seems like a good deal at $150.. any reason I should avoid?

That card is technically last gen and about to be 2 generations old.
Very good card though, and the price isn't bad, but it's honestly not anything impressive.
At your res, I don't think you'd run into any games where you couldn't turn up the eye candy.

Used 460's go for ~$110 right now, I would consider getting one second hand instead. You could even buy the open box card available right now.

Good advice thanks. I'm totally fine with buying used, especially from HC's as I've had great success here.

I honestly don't have a problem being a gen behind.

A better deal can definitely be had if you wait. I picked up a brand new EVGA 460 1GB FTW for $109 from NCIX.

the EVGA 460 FTW cards, from all the reviews I have read are the best 460 to be had, a 560ti although a good card is slightly slower on specs compared to a 460, however it does handle advanced features and dx11 better, just an FYI though, lots of folks complaining that the 500 series is having alot of quality control issues, though thier performance is great.

A radeon 6850(factory clocked version) Radeon 6870(factory or self clocked) GTX 560t, GTX 460 FTW and other same said models are among the best for thier price range. I am more partial to my Radeons, the aftermarket for replacement fans is not there for thier vanilla coolers, however I have not had any problems with my 4870(still running strong save the aforementioned cooler) and now a 6870 which runs like a dream.

I've only seen one on here in the last week or so.... Also, horrible prices used elsewhere except for one or two other places. They get snatched up quickly.

The 460 1gb at online vendors are overpriced if they're even still available. Imho.

Maybe I'm wrong about that as I'm just comparing to 560 prices which is supposed to be an 'improvement' or upgraded version.

I'm not partial to NVIDIA by any means.. I just want the best bang for my Little amount of $$.

Your 6870, how does it run DX11 games?
