Default is navidia 3dfx?

I was wondering if anyone knows if 3dfx was bought out by nvidia! Good old 3dfx made some kickin video cards. I couldnt seem to find anything on the net about 3dfx maybe looking in the wrong place.

I remember my friend bragging about his Voodoo 3 many years ago. Back in the day, it was his Voodoo against my pair of Rage 128's.

But I "won" the rivalry by being able to watch television and play Nintendo 64 on my computer, since I bought the original All-in-Wonder

I had one of those (snuck it into the house rather than tell my wife that I'd spent close to $500 on a vid card.... :) ). To this day I still swear that the quality of TV image on the AIW cards was as good or better than anything we've got now.

If I remember correctly, the general concensus was that Nvidia aquired 3Dfx mostly to remove a possible competitor rather than for any real interest in their proprietary technology.

3dfx had a mean video card that had four gpus on one card that has to make 3dfx a head of its time if they didnt screw up with sega while making the dreamcast they would most likely still be around.
I loved my voodoo 3 it had some nice game performance! But right after that i went to the all in wounder by ati. I still think that ati has the nicest picture quality of all cards thats why i choose them over navidia. they also had video in and video out support and tv tuner on there all in wounders! I still got amd k5 550 mhz running ati 9800 all in wounder. And that video card still clips a long reall nice.

It was just yesterday, man. Unfortunately, I haven't a motherboard that will accept legacy AGP cards; it would be useful for plugging in the Nintendo again =) That enormous silver RF decoder makes up for more than half of the card's weight and it came with a nice purple multimedia dongle for S-video and component input/output, too!

Right on. Those old cards sure do keep up to their given tasks when compared to newer tech. We use one at work which is feed by a camera to monitor the parking lot when no one is around on weekends. Not that card in particular though, it's an ATI but I can't remember off hand exactly what model it is since one of the other guys looks after it. However, it's an "oldie" and it works perfectly. lol
I was just wondering about the pic because of the year you have written on the sticky note. :)
