6970 mini display port issue

So I've had my 6970 for a few months now, everything was running without a hitch, never had a problem. Then last week i got some message on Windows (didn't read what it was, was doing something at the time and just clicked through it!!!) but I did glimpse something about display port or something or other.

Fast forward a few days and my monitor (Cinemaview 24" w/ native minidp) wasn't displaying images at all. So I would turn off the computer, unplug it from my 6970, reconnect it and the image would show. Did this a few times and yesterday, I tried this method on several occasions but never got anything to display.

I fixed the problem by moving it over to the other minidp port, but is my 1 minidp fried or something?
