what would cause blown caps on a graphics card?
 

I picked up a pile of parts from a friend, and one of them is a 7600GT with blown caps. I'll probably fix it if only for the practice, but I'm curious, what would cause the caps to blow on a graphics card? Power problems?

Age most likely.

Actually it's probably NOT age.

The 7600 is the right age to have counterfeit caps in it :

could also be that PSU failed. I have seen that when an Antec SP450 died took with it the whole system and blown the caps on a 7300GT, that silent model from Asus. the whole config was like 5 years old.

The more you know. I thought that happened due to age, had never heard of that.

It was a huge thing back in the day, with motherboards dying, etc.
