Default Dual Card Suggestion for 5760 x 1080 Gaming

Its seeming that quite a few games that came out this year are starting to put my 560 Tis into quite the bind, with their inability to keep up at high to very high settings at 5670 x 1080 resolution.

I was contemplating the following, with wanting to get the most power per dollars in a sense
2x HD 6970
HD 6990
2 x GTX 580
GTX 590.

So far I'm leaning either towards the 6970s or the 580s due to their performance over their single card counterparts. My question is which would perform better at eyefinity/surround resolutions in crossfire or sli (hard to find a lot of reviews/info on this), and what would be a good price to buy them at (new and/or used)

Side question would be what would my 560 Tis in my system tab currently be worth?

Well, 2x6970 is a cheaper option, that's for sure!

The 6970 are such amazing values compared to the 580, but it takes time finding the right driver/tweaks.

The 580 on the other hand are refresh that cost an arm and leg.

Maybe 2 gtx 480?

I'm very happy with my two 570s at ~6500x1152 (2048x1152 x 3 + bezel)

As a reference, an evga 560 ti sc goes for $200. I bought one just a few weeks ago here on HWC.

I feel upgrading to the 570s wouldn't be enough of an overal system improvement in allowing me to keep the cards long term. I am impressed I was able to keep these 560 Tis in my system for 6 months, however my next upgrade I might as well go big so I can perhaps skip a generation or half a generation whenever the new cards come out (presumed early 2012).

Same comment goes towards the 6950s, they are alright cards however they won't offer enough of an overall improvement for longer term that 6970s or 580s can offer.

How much are used 6970s or 580s worth, provided they aren't the standard heatsink instead the aftermarket ones such as the twn fror (as an example)

Finally found some 5670 x 1080 reviews, looks like the 580s edge out the 6970s barely, though I'm not sure if either have more mature/better drivers. Based on the minimal FPS difference between the two it would seem like the 6970 would be the winner based on its lower cost.

You'd need the 2GB GTX560Ti in Sli to run at this resolution. Check out my benchmarks here:

As far as your dilemma, I like the 2.5GB GTX570s EVGA and POV are selling these days as "sweet spot" for surround gaming, or a GTX590.

Hmm well I was hoping/planning to try and go big so I could stave off being an early adopter of the next gen graphics cards. I don't know if I've seen any 2.5GB GTX570 reviews around the net at all. I may have to look more carefully.

Looking more carefully I don't know about the 2.5GB cards just for a price point as its a fairly stock heat sink on it for around 420$ whereas a 2GB 6970 can be had for much less and typically (or from what i've seen) better frame rates
