Default Sandy bridge and Intel 3000 graphics.

How powerful is it with an i5-2500K? Good enough to run Oblivion at 1900x1200 with full detail at fair framerates?

What sort of video card would I have to get to do much better?

I don't know about full detail.
Maybe a 550 ti would be fine, its around $130 on sale.

much better would be the amd on the cpu gpu.

but for a heavy game at that resolution? for now only discreet gpus.

which one? look up a review with your game and see what the ywere running it with
