My System Specs

Default SLI question

I just bought EVGA 8800GTS 640MB (w/112SPs) SSC Edition because it was on sale at NCIX and I currently have a 8600GT no name brand I picked up early last year and was just curious if it is worth it to put them in SLI or just run with the new card. I'm new to this whole SLI thing; my newly built system is in crossfire but I just finished putting that together yesterday.

And great review SKYMTL on the evga 8800gts, helped my decision. Thanks.

Since they are not the same core, I don't think you can run them in SLI. I'm pretty sure SLI they have to be the same core. Example to 8600 GT, or two 8800 GT. You might be able to do a 8800 GT 512 and an 8800 GTS 512 cause they both use the G92 core.

Nope,

Can't do it.

You can't even do a GTS 512MB with a GT 512MB. Not supported by nVidia. In fact, an old 8800GTS 640MB can't work with an old 8800GTS 320MB, nor a new GTS 512MB.

Only ATI allows some mixing between 3850 and 3870 cards.
