The overclocks listed in this section were achieved with the default fan and voltage settings as defined in the VGA BIOS.
basically they are only changing the clocks without touching the voltage...which is necessary for a big OC, I've seen the ASUS run 24/7 on 950mhz core (it could even reach 1ghz while staying under 75C furmark but there was no actual gain in performance: this is the limit of the GPU in other words not the card...) every GPU is different and if you win at the silicon lottery 1ghz+ should be very doable!

It has been a long known fact that overclocking headroom increases as soon as you increase the operating voltage.
You can see at only 1.1v they hit 900mhz:

...personally reached 950mhz @ 1.15v which is quite similar to their results but my temps where quite a bit lower, maybe i have much better airflow/ambient temps...

Edit: just realized at stock settings they are getting high 60s while I was getting mid 50s so that must be it, either they live in Hawaii or they are doing their testing in a Corsair hotbox!

Awesome response man! I see what you mean now. Although I do have a Corsair, it is the new 600t Special edition so i'm not too worried about temps.. if it ever becomes a problem i can always drop 6 120mm fans into it hehe.

yes but u will need a case with EIGHT expansion slots as the bottom card will be hanging off the edge of the motherboard (the 600T does have 8 expansion slots).
