Need advice, purchase another 5850 or move up to 6970?

Just purchased 3 monitors for eyefinity, playing games like Dirt3, Witcher, League of Legends, ect. Basically I don't think my single 5850 can keep up so I'm considering either purchasing a new one to xfire for $200 or should I move up to the 6970 due to the higher VRAM & no xfire issues?

Thanks!

well, that would help. either way, but i would rather have one card,or rather,a pair of 6950's for tri screen.

Well two 6950's are a little out of my budget range for now. An upgrade to a 6970 or an extra 5850 would only cost roughly around $200.

then one card. but could you look at 6950's? reference design = good chances of unlock. either way, an overclock will bring it to 6970
speeds while burning a lesser hole in your pocket.

you could sell your 5850 north of 100 bucks. or keep it for a secondary build? :)

Move up to the 6970. Newer Dir X11 card, will work better than current card and if u choose 2 later on then go xfire.

I agree with dang and would not bother with xfire though.

Yes I am also looking at the 6950's, although I would only get one for now.

looking good. remember, pick reference over anything else.

chances of success were(and still are if bought properly) decent

or look up the bst, theres some unlocked goodies,or at least were last time i checked :)

Currently considering this, after price matching I can pick it up for roughly $265 which is pretty decent. Seems to be easily flashed to the 6970 BIOS too.

I am currently running a Radeon 6950 that is unlocked to 1536 shaders and overclocked past the 6970 speeds.
I haven't had issues with running any games so far, and the fact that it's a single card helps limit the number of issues related to CF.

I'd say find the ref card and get an aftermarket cooler to keep it quiet and cool cause those reference cards get loud at high fan speeds.
