URGENT - Is this a fake card (see link to pic)
I just picked up a Diamond 6870 on ebay.
Here's what it looks like:

Is this a brand new design? I can't find an image like this anywhere. Every 6870 I've seen is a "box" design and about a foot long. This is what their 6850 looks like - except it has the regular size displayport at the back. Is this card legit?
ps - tried to scale the images, but they just snap back.

Just looks like an aftermarket cooler instead of the reference model. It might even be a custom PCB instead of reference. I'd plug it in and see what GPU-Z tells you.

hardver-teszt.hu - Radeon HD 6850 és 6870 - Club3D, VTX3D és XFX

Looks like the 6850 there.

Definatly a fake IMO. But GPU-z is your only way to know.

Bizarre. My guess was that Diamond somehow slapped a 6870 sticker on a 6850....but how would they have a 6870 sticker that fits - but the real question is how does this thing have 2x mini-dps?
The guy hasn't sent it yet...and how can I trust him to give me a proper gpu-z screenshot?

Are there any other cards with this design that have the 2xmini-dps?

not the same cooler but does have 2 mini DPs

Here is the cooler but on a 6850.

Nah, I'd say that they have gone to their own PCB and cooler for cost savings. The 6850 and 6870 are basically the same card, just with a couple disabled SIMD's on the 6850.

If it's a screaming hot deal, just use Paypal to pay for it. Then you've got 45 days to start a claim if it's not as advertised. If it's not a super hot deal, move on.

What a oddball thing that cards is. The 2xmini-dps are like the 6870's but the fan shroud/assembly is like their 6850.
Diamond's site doesn't appear to have it. But it might be some kind of Diamond sample that he picked up somehow. I couldn't find one like it in my search.
Sorry I couldn't help.

Ok - just got off the phone with Diamond and the guy showed the pics to supervisor and engineers (9 minute call - no hold!) Apparently this was the first design of the card. But that doesn't explain why there are *no* images of it on the web or reviews....but anyway - they confirmed it as a legit 6870. Now I have to decide if they changed the design because this one was deeply flawed or something.

Look like a prototype or even a pre-market sample of a cheaper model than may be not see the day. may be some reviewer. a wholeseller get it and sell it, if you look at the pcb you can see the onboard ram include, 512, 1g 2g, I don’t think the 6850 come with 2g <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
