NVIDIA GTX 560 (non-Ti) 1GB Review Comment Thread

With the GTX 460 gradually making its way into the $175 market and the HD 6870 hitting the $199 price point, NVIDIA needed a card that retailed for less than the GTX 560 Ti but offered much improved performance over GF104-based cards. To accomplish this, they took the GF114 core found in the GTX 560 Ti and did a bit of cutting. The result is the 336 core GTX 560 1GB...without the "Ti" moniker and boasting a price of just $199.

Thanks for a great review, Sky!

I thought the 560 Ti was a little too much video card for my purposes - I'd buy this thing if it was $15 dollars less.
I thought nVidia went to the numbering system to avoid this lettering scheme? Now we're going back to the days of the 8800 (GS / GT / GTS / GTX / Ultra) :blarg:
Couldn't they at least be consistent with the 460 and call this a 560 Slow Edition?
It's good that this review came around, because I was wondering whether the I had to be certain of the Ti when GPU shopping - looks like I do have to look at it.

nice. new 460'ish card on the block today!!!

edit did they counter the 6790 or the 550 range is still at a loss? :)

I think the 560 is a great card and I don't think nvidia should really be putting anymore cards like this into the market.

They pretty much have a great card that can fit everyones budget and get good performance.

Another card hits the shelves, this saturation tactic doesn't seem to be working out for the consumer. Maybe when the next 6xx hits it'll drive the mounds of 5xx series prices down. I half expect to see a 550e/560e coming along soon.

agreed...

It seems like the cards are loosing their interest, and you really have to be an "educated" customer when you buy a card nowadays...there is too many offerings...it confuses the "neophytes"

its the direct competitor to the 6870 actually...

at 200$ imo not worth it cause you can get the zotac 560 ti OC at 210-40MIR=170$ atm for example, but im sure prices will drop once supply starts to exceed demand like it always does...

Unfortunately I'm getting "Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 786432) (tried to allocate 1572864 bytes) in C:\HardwareCanucks.com\forum\vbseo.php on line 1211" on pages 2 and beyond.

It works....most of the time. We're still fighting through some server issues.
