Default ow, time for another 8800 to be relased.

Copy of my NCIX thread but I thought I would let you guys know to.

Well now it seems that there is going to be a 8800GS to join the GTS, GT, GTX, and Ultra.

And confusion reigns supreme.....

Not to mention the reports of the GX2 being delayed to March and the Ultra and GTX going EOL.

Why would they add another card, don't they think we have enough of the 8800's out.
might as well add the GTO in there as well... lol

March? Where did you read that?
And I agree, there are way too many 8800's out already. I wonder how many people buy the GTS 640MB thinking it's faster than the 512MB one?

Default Nice cards but WTF?

I love my old 8800GTS.

I bought it in November 2006 and it stayed i my PC for well over a year, until I bought my 2 x 3870 cards (which I love).

I don't understand why they didn't call it the 89xx series... I mean G80 = 8800, G9x should be 8900. It's a great chip, and many are happy with their new GT/GTS cards, but WTF?

It looks to me that they are using this as an interim upgrade to cover for their (potentially) lacking follow-up 9xxx cards? It's quite possible. I still believe they hit the ball out of the park with the 8800 series and will have a tough time topping it.

Also, they need to shore up their reference designs. Too many issues lately.

Regards,

10e
