Finally picked a midrange GPU "Update"

Hey all,

I have been going back and forth over GPUs for a while now, but have finally made a decision. I was mainly waiting on a good deal on an hd 5770 or gts 450, but went on the canadapostshopper site and found an EVGA gtx 460 768mb for $126 without any kind of MIR and free shipping through amazon.ca. I decided to go for it. It won't ship until around 9 May (when they expect them in), but I can wait that long. Hopefully I don't come across a better deal in the meantime, but I doubt I will regret my decision. I am mainly playing SCII @ 1680x1050. Think I made a good decision?

Seems okay, a quick google shows the same price with a MIR. I bought a card from Amazon before with no issues, the price was quite competetive.....at the time.

I know its not the best deal ever, but for someone who dislikes MIR (like me) it is nice to get a decent price and have free shipping (I think its one of the lowest prices on a 460 without MIR I have seen in a while). If I recall correctly there is no penalty for cancelling an order with amazon if you find a better deal while waiting for the card to ship.

Yeah you can cancel an order from amazon as long as it hasn't shipped (they also dont charge until it ships either)I did earlier this month when I ordered a 5770 and then found the 5830 on sale at NCIX for $110 after MIR and I'm so happy I found it since it's now like $170 after MIR so I got it cheaper than I would have got the lesser card and I get slightly better performance in most areas.

Well, while waiting for the amazon deal (mentioned above) to ship I found the NCIX sale that started wednesday. MSI Cyclone gtx 460 768mb OC for $125 and a $25 MIR (making it $100 for a new 460). Went for it (with express shipping for $10) and cancelled the amazon evga version. It arrived Friday and has been installed and running great since. Extremely happy with it. Completely silent and thus far doing exactly what I wanted and then some. Next up...see how long before I want a MOB/CPU/Ram upgrade. Also...very good experience with shipping time from NCIX. Last few orders have been slow, but this time it was ordered 11pm Wed night (Atlantic Time) and received 4pm Friday. Pretty impressive (all the way to NS)...now if only it was always like that (fingers crossed).

that is a superb card for 1680 x 1050 resolution .runs cooler than the 1gb version
