Default Hard to find HIS 3870 ICEQ3 or Instock 3850 ICEQ3 Turbox

Since the HIS 3870 ICEQ3 is so hard to find and I can only imagine the prices will go up once more get in stock. I am debating about wether to hold out for one or just get a HIS 3850 ICEQ3 Turbox and OC it.

Here are a couple of points that I like about the HIS cards.
  • Non-reference cooler
  • OC well
Also keep in my mind the 3870 and the 3850 are practically the same card with just different core and memory speeds.

Currently the HIS 3870 ICEQ3 goes for around $254 @ NCIX - http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...3&promoid=1019
NCIX shows and ETA of 01/25/2008, however I can just imagine how fast they will sell out.

I can get a HIS3850 ICEQ3 Turbox for $219.45 @ DC but I'll just pricematch at NCIX and these always appear to be in stock. - HIS Radeon HD 3850 ICEQ3 Turbox 735MHZ 512MB 1.96 GHz 256BIT GDDR3 PCI-E 2XDVI HDTV Out Video Card - DirectCanada

I haven't fully read the comment thread about the 3870 review that SKYMTL did I have glanceed through it and I know there is talk in there about oCing the 3850. I'll have to go through and read it.

:help:

You pretty well have to bite the bullet and purchase one on backorder.

I put an order in on the 18'th. Hopefully my backorder will be filled on the 25'th.

I can't see spending the extra $50 for the overclocked version when the only difference is bios settings.

That's the early release model with the reference cooler.

I'll have to check that out. No I'm gaming at 1680x1050. 256MB with today's games isn't really enough and ends up bottlenecking.

Mine shipped tonight after being ordered on the 15'th. Not a bad turn around for an item that's hard to come by.

There's supposed to be another shipment on it's way in on the 31'st.
