Default XFX 6950 2GB v1.2 (reference) still unlockable?

I bought one of these cards and noticed that it is version 1.2. I would like to ask those out there in the know whether or not these cards are still unlockable. Thanks.

I have yet to open the box... first I wanna do my research before "committing" to buy. My cousin has a XFX 6950 2GB ver 1.0 and it unlocks. My buddy has same card only ver 1.1 and it also unlocks. Somewhere I read that a XFX CSR stated that later versions would be damaged by attempting a flash. Needless to say I would like very much to hear from someone with first hand experience about this.

Any of the new 2GB models coming into the channel likely won't be unlockable. There are still some original reference cards available, though. For example, the Gigabyte card is still available at NCIX in limited quantities. That card was also the only card with a perfect unlock record at the time of a published article by one of the major sites. Techpowerup maybe? Can't remember right now.

In my second post I state that I have a reference part number FYI. I am aware that non reference cards will not unlock. What this thread is talking about is reference cards that are ver 1.2.

FWIW in addition to the XFX card in question I acutally have a Gigabyte 6950 2GB from NCIX and yes it unlocked perfectly.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. What I meant was any of the new 2GB reference cards coming into the channel will likely be locked, even with the same part number.
