Default Need help choosing please!

Hi guys and girls.

New to forum however read the reviews on the website all the time :).

Anyhow im wanting to upgrade my Video Card and really need help deciding on this please, My choices are the XFX Radeon HD5770 (which i can go buy today) however ive spotted a Sapphire Radeon 5850 and from the reviews on here its much better than the 5770 and its only a little more expensive! (on this site)

SAPPHIRE TECHNOLOGY Radeon HD 5850 - 1 GB GDDR5 - PCI-Express 2 0 11162-00-40R CG-281HQ HDMi fem

Is that 5850 decent or just a low end version of the decent 5850s? im quite confused about it all and dont want to go buy the 5770 if that 5850 is gonna blow it out the water if you will.

Thanks for any help. I appreciate it!.

The HD5850 is better than the HD5770 in terms of performance. The HD5850 used to cost a lot last time but have seen a reduction of price by 1/2 after the HD6000 series came out.

That Sapphire HD5850 uses its own 3rd party cooler which should be quieter and cooler than the reference design. So it would be better than the original design that used the blower style cooler. But more importantly you need to match your PSU to your GC. If you have a 500W true power PSU then you don't have any trouble powering up either the HD5770 or the HD5850.

My PSU is 700W if i remember rightly so it should be fine, i have one more question, how much better is that 5850 than the 5770? the games i want to run are things such as Starcraft 2, WoW, Mortal online and probably Crysis 2 when i buy it. I love my games and would love them to run at a decent Framerate!.

If the 5850 is going to be quite a bit better i may aswell wait and order it, if not i will go now and buy the xfx 5770. Thep problem i had with that particular 5850 i linked was the fact id never seen that particular model before and wasnt sure if it was a low end version if you understand what i mean.

Also thanks for your reply :).
