Default Hd 6950 ?

You might remember my previous issue with my msi gtx 570.
Ended up i RMA it back to ncix and got refunded , really crappy card apparently.
So after that event i might think buying local or try ncix again, but now i'm thinking
to stay ati with a hd6950 2gb for a 1920 x 1080
or go with a gtx560 ti ... well as long as they dont end up like my previous gtx 570.
I was thinking for something like Asus Direct CuII or XFX since they seems both great.

I even wonder if a hd6950 is not a bit of a overkill for 1920 x 1080 ...

Maybe so for last year's games, but not for DX11, or Dragon Age 2 (not recommending this game) or other of new titles coming out from now on.

Initially you might feel that the HD6950 is overkill for a 1080P resolution but as more graphically demanding games come out your once mighty HD6950 might not even be overkill when that happens. A little bit more performance than you currently need wouldn't be an issue.

I have one running on 1920X1080, is it overkill...yup...but the plan is to add another 1 or 2 monitors this year to put it to good use. and the 2gb GDDR is good for newer games like others have said. Never regretted the purchase at all.

Yeah, I got two MSI 570 OC cards that crash if I play Just Cause 2 without lowering the clock speeds closer to stock... A lot of other people said they had no problems with the cards, but I did an RMA and told MSI to give me the stock version... waiting on that one to show up.

I can tell you the 560 is a solid card and much improved over the 570 imo. Still, the 6950 2GB is a solid performing card that lets you turn up the AF/AA a bit more than the 560. Still, there is always the fact that people find issues with the ATI CCC and 69xx in general, plus the lack of physX and CUDA.
