Second vid card extremely slow
I have a second video card just to run an extra monitor on my system. It's a POS since it's only a Geforce 6200 but I only need it to run windows explorer, firefox or M$ Office etc.. It did it's job just fine until I updated to Win7 and now it is as clunky as hell. I'm just kind of wondering why? A DirectX thing maybe?

If it is a hardware issue what's the lowest vid card I can get away with? Needs to be nvidia BTW to play nice with my GTX 280 driver wise.

perhaps put it to 7 basic/ aero might be heavy on it maybe?

Thanks. That pretty much solved the problem and sped up the whole system rather nicely. Man I need some newer tech.

I'm pulling this tread back up... Eventhough the system as a whole was better AutoCAD was still really bad, I just figured ATI's are better the nVidia's for this. BTW I run cad off my main monitor which is run off my GTX280. I tried disabling the 6200 and cad runs worlds better - like butter. So is the fact that I even have a slower card on the system causing the slowdown or would it be some sort of settings issue? I don't want to give up the cad performance but I'd really like to get that third monitor up and running.

could be drivers or could be the card itself. replace it with something faster

also could be diff gen cards not playing that nice together,

could be a driver issue.
try old whql drivers also.
use driver sweeper software to remove old drivers .260.99whql is a good one.,also check 18x.xx whql drivers
if it is hardware issue then buy new gen cheap cards
