Just an update; I've left the computer on for 3 straight days(Turn off the monitor and speakers at night) and it is stable as anything. I have not had one single lockup or glitch. I play LOTRO maxed out at 12x10 and I can play for hours and my GPU goes up to maybe 63C max but cools down very quickly to about 51-53C idle when I come out of the game. This a beast of a card and adding sufficient cooling goes a long way to making the whole experience truly rewarding.

Default 3dMark06 on the 8800GT
Hey Kranky,

What 3dMark06 do you get with that setup? I'd be curious, I was thinking about getting an 8800GT but I went for an HD2900PRO 256bit since it was only $179.

I'm wondering what I'm missing out on. My 3dMark06 with the un-registered version was 9160 with the ATI Overdrive OC'd at 700/850.

2 8800GTs? I have seen 12,000+ on 3DMark06 with one 8800GT. But I wouldn't count that as the norm. Depending on your setup, system otpimization, etc... You can expect anywhere between 7700 - 11000 on average from what I have seen. Some cases people are getting the 12,000 - 13,000 range but that is most likely due to major OCing on a kick-ass system that is tweaked for benching 3Dmark.

I get 13,200 3DMark06 running XP 32 and get 12,200 3DMark06 on Vista 64 this running my XFX8800GT at 700,1700,2000.Still play most older games on XP and a few newer ones on Vista,can't wait to get second 8800GT and SLI .

Yeah I get 13,600 in 3dMark06 with the system in my sig. Pretty sure I'd be close to 15k if I had a quad instead of a C2D. Anyone else think it's silly that the CPU counts for so much in what should be a video card bench? Meh.
