Wish nv will come out with a better cooling solution than the 6990.

It's fun to have high performance toy but that's a bucket load of money for a GPU. I can't never convince myself to drop that kind of money for one single item in my rig. Unless I come into money and it becomes no object I don't think I'll enjoy such goodies...

It's funny how "one of the reasons" to buy this card is if you need it to fit in a single slot... But if you need a single slot card, then you're either using a tiny case that won't fit the card, or you're putting in a lot of other PCIe cards. Anyone with the money to waste on this toy will have the money to buy a mobo that has at least 3 PCIe lanes for graphics. I'd rather go tri crossfire with 6970s than buy this + a 6970. Heck, 3-way 6950s will perform the same as the 6990 + 6970 if you don't use the o/c BIOS.

Agreed, I would feel sick about spending that on any one single item, unless we are talking about a brand new monitor or 3d setup, in which case I'm all aboard

Better off to get two 6950's, flash them to 6970's, and run in CF.

No new cards are able to be flashed to 6970s to my knowledge, they fixed that a month or two back.

Incorrect. This is only true of 1GB cards which are all non-reference.

I've seen posts within the last few days (Hardforum) that indicate successful flashes on recent 2GB purchases.

Sure I'll buy this, let me just sell my entire rig so that I can afford it. Oh wait, then I'd need a new rig, too. Sigh...

According to FUDZilla, they have:

Nvidia downclocks the GTX 590

Once again, Nvidia is also talking about noise, and we must say that the card was pretty quiet, at least the one seen running at Cebit, and according to rumours, it should end up to be just a bit louder than the GTX 580.
As many review sites have measured the sound output of the 6990 higher than the GTX480, this would be a big deal for this card.
