I've been finding the 560 can usually be had for $230 on sale and a bit cheaper sometimes. That's why I suggested what I did about prices for the 6950 2GB. Still, if you have an exact brand preference, it will be closer to $240 unless you wait for a sale.

I left AMD 6870s due to poor crossfire and eyefinity support myself.
That seems to be the general consensus again with AMD drivers, Damn I really wanted to go the 6950 2 gig route but I grabbed the MSI 560 TI, I got 3dmark 11 as well with the card..... Meh I"ll take it

What did you do with your old card? what model was it exactly? I'm looking to 'pull the trigger' this week as well and can't decide what to do.
Single screen 1920x1080
no SLI
$200 max including tax.
Options?

You are probably going to have to get the recently released GTX 550 Ti. Going by your budget.

I should say I'd prefer to stay with nvidia, heard too many headaches from ATI owners :/

If you wanna stick with Nvidia you are going to have to take a lesser card for more money. They really don;t have anything great in your pricerange. the 550ti sucks and you are above the gtx 460.

PC CANADA - CP AX6870 1GB GDDR5, RADEON 256 BIT, DL-DVI-I/ SL-DVI-D HDMI/2XMINI DISPLAYPORT [AX6870 1GBD5-M2DH] - The Original and Highly Rated All-Canadian WebStore price match that to NCIX and you get $203 with tax, unless you go second hand it isn't going to get much better than that.

It's a powercolor HD6870.

or for a bit less you can get this
NCIX.com - Buy XFX Radeon HD 6850 775MHZ 1GB 4.0GHZ GDDR5 2XDVI Display Port HDMI PCI-E Video Card - XFX - HD685XZNFC - in Canada

If you really wanna stick with nvidia you should get

NCIX.com - Buy MSI GeForce GTX 460 Fermi Cyclone OC 725MHZ 768MB GDDR5 Dual DVI Mini-HDMI DX11 PCI-E Video Card - MSI/MicroStar - N460GTX Cyclone768D5/OC - in Canada

Both radeon cards are better than the nvidia but the nvidia will cost you less (honestly I would take the ATI).

Thanks JJ, are you comparing that to my 8800? That's great if you could, the 8800 has been a good card no doubt. I'm just not sure how much of an upgrade I need to go to get fluid framerates again at 1920x1080 with mostly full eye candy on. I've got Crysis2 ordered, and I don't expect to run it on full with my old quad core cpu, and nothing overclocked, but I would like to futureproof myself a bit more. I tend to buy late generation hardware and keep it a few years. I currently have an AMD based motherboard also, but very old, and I likely won't ever go SLI.

If you guys are truly happy with ATI performance and drivers, I don't mind going with one, just hard to give up on nV when they've been so good to me. (I've owned at least 3 of em since 2002).

edit: just noticed that gtx is 768mb, i was looking for 1gb minimum.
