If you're worried about the electric bill, you can't afford the card. My folding machine running at 100% 24/7 adds about $15 a month to my bill. If you are gaming a couple of hours a day, your computer power might cost $2-3 a month.

i dont keep them long enough to notice, a quickie furmark and some 3dmark looping for some hours with a pair of 580's wont dent your montly.

Running 3 of em...strictly gaming....haven't noticed anything at all....likely Folding would be a little different, but according to Sugar even that may amount to $30 a month maybe....

I guess that is about what I pay. I have had my UPS monitoring the energy use and over the last month it used 137.38 kWh (about $10@$0.07kWh). Now that is two monitors, computer, switch and phone. The system is the one in my specs with the 460. Also this machine stays on 24/7 and I do my couple hours of gaming a day I guess.

Then there is my simple server that is of course on 24/7 as well and it takes 122.30 kWh/month

Now in about 2 weeks I will have a 580 so I should be able to figure out what kind of a cost difference there is.

In the winter a computer is a fancy electric heater.

Not since switching from SLI 460s to a single 570... it really doesn't heat up my room 1/2 as well as it used to :(

I even have my vent open now.
