Gtx 560 Ti vs Gtx 570

So i was thinking to upgrade my old hd4850 (slowly dieing) to something newer and this time in the nvidia range.
With crysis 2 and BC3 coming up i dont think it will hold very long at 1920 x 1080 on High.
So the first thing i was waiting for a long moment was the gtx560 ti but then i saw a msi gtx 570 on specials deals at Ncix for 309$, with also the evga gtx 570.
But now i'm wondering if i should take the deal for a gtx 570 now or wait for lower price on a gtx 560 ti?

1) Buy a gigabyte 560 Ti super over-clock series if you can get one in stock for under $270
2) Buy the MSI 570 OC (I just bought it) for $309 before MIR of $20

The 570 is pretty damn sweet and will offer improved performance in bandwith limited games & tessellation due to having more physical hardware than the 560. But, the 560 SOC (if you find one in stock) gives you full warranty at 1000Mzh core shader and fps that are close to a stock 570 and saves you $30-40.

Unless you don't want/need the performance boost of the 570 over the 560, go with the 570 imo. I'm super happy.

The fan profile [for the 570] is a little stupid, but that's for acoustic reasons.

@ 85 C it only spins at 60% which is audible, but not annoying or too loud. This card loves to run between 85C with an ambient around 20C in a case with good airflow. Still,the fan will break 60% when your temp increases past 85C to keep it under 85. Very very quite at idle and low loads.

while the 560 is a decent card, it wont be able to max out at 1080p.
itll max out a lot of games, but not all. why not go with the 6950 2gb?
they do better with higher resolutions.

I went for the GTX 570 for my son's system and a GTX 460 for mine since I don't game much.

The MSI GTX 570 is very quite compared to the HD 4870 it replaced and will be an upgrade which should last a few years The HD 4870 lasted 2 years before lag stared setting in with some games.

The GTX460 768MG I have in mine is also really good, I upgraded from a GTX260 and use a 1920 x 1080 monitor ... really nice card for the 140$ before MIR at NCIX

Well i was thinking about it today and i don't think i need a Gtx 570 ,I'll probably wait for a Gtx 560 ti or a hd 6950 and hope the drivers are solid.
Although i didn't know about the 6950 -> 6970, what's the point of selling a downgraded bios 6970 with a lower price?

There are a lot of reasons why people will not try to unlock their 6950 to a 6970. The 6950 may be made from the same stuff as the 6970, but it doesn't mean it handles the speeds/voltages/thermals the same as the 6970 does.

Well, the vRAM modules are different (slower ram than 6970), and that's why SOME of the fully unlocked 6950s are artifacting...

The shader unlock-only mod is better and less risky...

To fill a lower price point without having to release a completely different card, their are minor differences between the two, which people have pointed out.

I think you should go for the 6950 as well, or else a single 6850 at the moment, and add a second when you want a performance boost. I've seen 6850's go for $160 new, so you can get two of them for $320 if your deal hunting, and they will beat a 580 performance wise.
