Default bottlenecking a Q9550 at 3.6?

Howdy...

Woulda HD6970 crossfire setup could be bottlenecked badly by my P45 platform?

Q9550

Well with crossfire 6970's eventually it could be a bottleneck, but ATM I don't think any game will give you any trouble so no.

My reasoning:

My Q9550 at 3.6GHz, is pretty much performing like the AMD X4s and X6s in GAMING...
Quite a few people are building crossfire rigs with high-end cards on AMD platforms...
So I think that it might be not too bad...

Now, a P45 8x/8x, dunno if it's sucky compared to, for exemple P55 8x/8x...

when you cranck that stuff up to 2560 and such youll get a 4 percent hit, or was it 6 percent? vs full 16x.

if this means 110fps vs 120? noone cares lol.

I realize that..but let me re-phrase this..

Is the 8x/8X crossfire IMPLEMENTATION of the oldie P45 is providing the same bandwidth as the later P55s and P67?

i would think so. but the performance difference is there.
im thinking because mainly because of the powerhouse being different.

I'm also wondering what did change so much between HD58**-series and HD69**-series in relation with Crossfire implementation/scaling...

Is the VLIW4 SPs (HD69**) vs VLIW5 SPs (HD58**) makes THE difference?

Or is it just AMD that finally optimizer Crossfire enough and decided to implement the imporvement to the HD69** to look forward, to give more horsepower to prime-time cards???

well, from what i gathered, the 5 series had some hp under the hood not being used most of the time,

and now thats been 'converted' its getting put to use. for the multicard thingie im not sure.

either way, i still stand behind what i wrote above. give us some numbers, then we know. not worth shelling

500 bucks for cpu mobo ram and go up fps when not needed/noticed

at 1920x1080 with AA your CPU will play less of a role. I have 2 6950's and Q6600 @ 3.2GHz, and i score a X3000 in 3Dmark 11, the same as an overclocked X58 setup. Performance score i was 1000 points short.
