Is the GeForce GTX Ti the New 8800 GT?

Hey folks,

We at NVIDIA's GeForce.com website have put up a comparison article examining the differences between the popular 8800 GT GPU and the recently released mid-ranged priced GeForce GTX 560 Ti: GeForce.com - Get the Most Out of Your GPU

Some nice comparison images and figures are contained within. Let us know if you had any questions or comments!

I discovered that site yesterday because the guy from tweakguides.com is writing for Nvidia now and enjoyed that 560 ti article.

while it's a great comparison between a card from now and what, three and a half years ago, I'd rather know why i should get a 560 over a 6950, with the MSRPs being only $10 different between the two.

I'm sure even the least tech savvy of us know that their cards are long in the tooth :P

I believe it brings up a great many points. However, we can't forget that the 8800 GT effectively one-upped most of NVIDIA's upper-end lineup in one fell swoop. With the GTX 560 Ti on the other hand, NVIDIA was a bit more conservative and didn't compete with pre-existing cards. What I am saying is that the market realities are completely different.

To draw parallels between the 8800 GT and the GF104, the GTX 560 TI would have had to outperform the GTX 470 and match GTX 480 performance...BEFORE the GTX 570 and GTX 580 were released.
