5870 vs 4870X2 I have the chance to pick up a used 5870 for about $150 and I was wondering what, if any performance differances I would see from my 4870X2.From what I've read probably nothing spectacular.I would like some opinons from somebody who made a recent switch to a 5870 from 4870X2 or if I should bite the bullet and go to a 6970 |
I went from a 4870X2 to a 5850. (Ok there was a pair of 4770's for a few months between the two). It's cooler, just as fast when OC'd, none of the annoyances of Crossfire, DX11. But going up to a 69 series might be a good idea. |
At that price, definitely worth it. You can sell your 4870x2 for around that much on here. Less power, quieter, more OC headroom and Dx11. |
as per above, dont think about 5 series when the 6950 2gb can be had for a couple bucks more |
get a 6950. there will be barely any performance benefits from a 5870, and actually in some cases the 4870x2 does perform better then the 5870. only thing you will notice with the 5870 is dx11, lower wattage and less heat/noise depending on your case. get a 6950 imo, it will be a good card for a long time still |
