which 6950? im looking to upgrade my gts 250. i was thinking of one of the xfx 6950's but i dont know which one either the 2GB or the 1GB. i was thinking theres no difference since i game at 1680x1050. but i also want to be future proof incase i get a new monitor or maybe just try and run it as long as i can. |
I would go w/ the 2GB just because it the chances of it being able to be unlocked is still very good. |
right on, at your resolution the 1 giger will do nice. but. what if you upgrade monitor? dont cheap on 20 bucks now and cry later :) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1 GB Review - Page 27/31 | techPowerUp http://tpucdn.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeF...rfrel_1680.gif |
Grab the XFX for the warranty and their good support team. And might as well spend a bit extra for the 2GB, it's what I did. ST |
NCIX has a dam good price on the XFX 2 GB model right now, 274.99 then $10 off with a MIR. NCIX.com - Buy XFX Radeon HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E 2XDVI HDMI 2x Mini DisplayPort Video Card - HD695ACNFC In Canada. |
I have a pair of Sapphire 2gbs that are shader unlocked and running strong. I have unlocked a couple other Sapphire cards for friends and they also worked great. Just be aware that if you go that route and want to unlock it is advisable to do a shader only unlock and leave the clocks alone. |
I'm going with the Gigabyte version, simply because this is what the local shop could get. I have also had good expirence with other Gigabyte products in the past, (not video cards), and l believe that since they arent an Sapphire, or XFX, chances are their stock will still be early versions of 6950's, i am sure that there hasnt been any locked cards in the wild yet, but this is a good bet it wont be mine. |
