280 is still a good card IMO, if you arent experiencing any issues then I would save your $$ for a bit longer

if you want to get something that will run cooler,quieter,and has a bit of newer tech? as per above, but 6850 perhaps?

I just upgraded from a GTX260 to a GTX570.
I wanted it primarily for folding and the 570 gets double the points of the 260 - but I'm getting NAN errors so the PPD is about 10k until I RMA (I will RMA when NCIX folding contest is over)
I also got a smokin' deal on my 570 = $250 total (free shipping to my brother in USA, zero tax and I also used EVGA folding bucks)
My old GTX260 was a great/fantastic/awesome card and I would not have upgraded other than the desire to increase folding output.
So I guess Im saying IMO you should stick with the 280 unless there is something specific that you want some extra GPU power for.

I did try out a gtx570 on my system(res 1680x1050) and it did increase min fps double+ in justcause2 over the gtx280. BFBC2 also was much higher fps rate but the 570 kept crashing black screen and nfs shift locked up to black screen. At $350+tax it went back to newegg and I overclocked the gtx 280 fiddled with settings(all's good now) and will wait it out til the top end cards drop a good $50-100 next fall. Your gtx280 should carry you through.
