Who's waiting for 6990? Or gave up and bought 2x 6970s?

We know that at best a 6990 will tie two 6970s, but will more likely will equal two 6950s or less. Im scratching my head right now... and dont want to wait very much longer, lol.

I am done w/ dual GPU cards. So unlocked HD6950's for me.

I'm still waiting for the 6990 *sigh* I really thought I'd have it in hand before Dragon Age 2 comes out, but it's looking doubtful. I'm still a bit mad, as I had delayed this build until mid December to coincide with the three 6900 cards release, of course only two of the three came out. So now I'm stuck in limbo with a great new build, but it's still not complete.

Lol, in the meantime I'm stuck using one of the two 5770s from my old computer (which I passed along to my husband), the second 5770 is still in that one.

If it's a dual-Cayman, it's interesting. It would have to live up to the 5970's reputation. It has to reproduce the same performance as a HD6950 crossfire setup, or it's simply not appealing.

As you can get HD6950's for $279 each, so $558 for the Crossfire setup (with the chances of unlocking to full 6970 core), the price/performance of ANTILLES has to either kick butt or the performance be excellent.

The 5970, still produces surprisingly good numbers in benches. If the new Hd6990 card is a dual-Barts (in order to keep wattage ratings in check), I'll laugh and shake my head...

Judging form last year's 5xxx series, I'd CF HD6950 and sleep on it without worries or remorse after.

I never bothered with either. Jumped when i could get 2 6870s relatively cheap to dump my overheating 470s

Alas a lot of people end up in the same boat, waiting for something that doesn't get relased on time. First time in a while I've seen them backlogged on something that is supposed to come out. Then again, that might be due to something in the development of it, who knows.

That being said, you'll find a lot of people would rather not go Dual GPU cards these days for many various reason. I'm gonna vote that I'm done with them myself (Unless nVidia brings one out, not a fanboi, just a folder).

I opted on my second build for the 6950. Get another one and 6 months and boom, x-fire.

Probably the same performance as the 6990...
